Dreaming about Wolf Attack

An active attack sharpens the symbol considerably. The relevant question shifts from what the wolf represents in general to what the dreamer is being overrun by, and from where.

Common interpretations

  • Freudian

A wolf attack in the Freudian frame often reads as repressed material breaking through whatever has been holding it. The aggression is rarely about wolves; it tends to be displaced from a person, a memory, or a drive the dreamer cannot allow into direct thought. The intensity of the attack often tracks the intensity of what is being kept down.

A wolf lunging at the throat in a dream that wakes the dreamer. The reading often points to material that has reached the limit of what suppression can hold, and is asking, forcefully, to be looked at.
